Neve Genesys G3D Recording Console
Integrated Analogue Mixing in Three Dimensions
The G3D is the world’s first object-based hardware and software platform which allows three-dimensional analogue mixing directly from the console surface.
The integration of Dolby Atmos mixing directly from the console makes the Genesys G3D a unique platform, introducing new workflow possibilities. With this new system, users can track, overdub, and mix in both stereo and Dolby Atmos, all within a single piece of hardware.
This was achieved through a close collaboration between AMS Neve engineers and the team at Dolby. Together they established a unique and intuitive control system that allows the Genesys analogue channel strips, including EQ, dynamics processing, outboard insert paths, and analogue fader motions to be utilized for mixing in three dimensions.
With the G3D system, AMS Neve has ensured future-proofing for studios. It offers touch-sensitive encoders for automating object positioning, a 3D monitor attenuation mode, and a new bank of switches designed to streamline controlling the Dolby Atmos Renderer. The G3D also introduces binaural headphone monitoring, delivering integrated binaural monitoring straight from the console surface.
Fully supporting Dolby Atmos loudspeaker configurations of 7.1.4, 9.1.4, and 9.1.6, the G3D system includes an intuitive loudspeaker control system and operates via a new 64-bit operating system. It also incorporates the new GenesysControl plugin, allowing object positions and parameters to be automated from the DAW timeline. Meanwhile, the external StarNet ADA16 forms an essential part of the G3D system, functioning as the main DA converter for the Atmos loudspeaker outputs, ensuring pristine sound quality.
With its ground-breaking advancements, the Genesys G3D attracts attention at the NAMM Show, paving the way for the future of audio mixing.
