      Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-8

Since its launch in 2015, the RNDI has been the go-to direct interface for discerning musicians and engineers worldwide, with over 25,000 channels shipped. Now, we are proud to introduce the RNDI-8, which puts eight channels of this beloved circuit into a single rack space.

The RNDI-8 is the perfect solution for high-end stage rigs, studios, and synth enthusiasts. Its custom transformers and discrete FET amplifiers ensure vibrant and clear sound, capturing the full harmonic depth of any source. The reliability of the RNDI has already been proven, with thousands of touring artists adopting this device without hesitation. With the RNDI-8, you don’t need to put in extra effort to achieve stunning direct sound. It’s just there, delivering unparalleled performance in a compact and convenient package.

The RNDI-8 is a high-end direct interface that packs eight independent channels of the RNDI Active Transformer Direct Interface into a single rack space. With this powerful device, you can easily provide instrument direct injection for instruments such as electric guitar, bass, synthesizer, keyboard, piezo pickup, or any other instrument-level source. The circuit topology of the RNDI-8 is discrete, class-A and is built around custom transformers designed by Mr. Rupert Neve himself. These transformers provide exceptional sonic performance and unparalleled natural sound that extends from 5Hz all the way beyond 90kHz.

Each channel of the RNDI-8 can handle input levels up to +21dBu (and up to +31dBu with the pad engaged). The low impedance transformer-coupled output delivers minimal signal loss over long lines. Plus, the rugged steel construction of the chassis is designed to withstand any stage or studio environment for a lifetime of use. Get ready to experience pure sonic performance with the RNDI-8.

At the heart of the RNDI-8 lies its distinctive signature sound, achieved through the perfect marriage of custom-designed transformers and class-A, discrete FET input amplifiers. This meticulously crafted combination is the secret to the RNDI-8’s unparalleled accuracy, tone, and response. The RNDI-8 is equipped with custom-wound output transformers that serve a dual purpose. Not only do these transformers provide crucial isolation, but they also impart pleasant musical harmonics and add depth to your sound. This unique combination ensures that your audio retains its natural character and dimension. The low impedance, transformer-balanced outputs of the RNDI-8 excel at driving long cable runs without any signal degradation. Whether you’re in a live performance or a studio recording session, you can trust that the RNDI-8 will consistently deliver exceptional performance regardless of the equipment it’s connected to.

With a maximum input level of up to +21dBu (typical), the RNDI-8 can handle a wide range of instruments, as well as professional line-level sources such as interfaces and drum machines. And if that’s not enough, engage the -10dB pad and witness the input level capability soar to an impressive +31dBu – more than enough to accommodate even the highest-output DJ mixers. This versatility makes the RNDI-8 an indispensable tool that can enhance the sound of virtually any connected instrument or audio source.

Like most direct interfaces, the RNDI-8 features a ground lift switch at the output. However, it goes above and beyond by offering not only the standard DI ‘lifting’ option via eight individual ‘Pin 1 Isolate’ switches on the rear panel, but also eight ground lift buttons conveniently located on the front panel. Engaging the ground lift switch or button is a simple yet effective way to eliminate common sources of hum in the signal path. By disconnecting the circuit ground from the chassis ground, you can quickly detect and eliminate unwanted ground hum that may be affecting your audio.

      Features

      • Groundbreaking Direct Tone
When class-A, discrete amplifiers meet Rupert’s custom transformers, magic happens. The RNDI-8 contains the unique components and design knowledge that makes it worthy of the Rupert Neve name.
      • Huge Headroom
Maximum input level is a massive +21dBu (typical), making the RNDI-8 capable of handling not only instruments but also professional line-level sources like interfaces and drum machines. With the addition of a -10dB pad, that number soars to +31dBu – more than enough for even the highest-output DJ mixers.
      • Rugged Solid Steel Frame
The rugged steel 1U chassis features an industrial-grade powder coating and is built to withstand the severe stresses of life on the road. The included bolt-on rack ears are reversible for multiple mounting options.
      • Takes All Kinds
The RNDI-8 performs with immense consistency across a wide variety of sources due to its 2M Ohm discrete FET input and huge headroom, providing superb sound for guitars, synths, basses, acoustic instruments, keyboards, and even professional line level devices.
      • Drive Longer Lines
The low impedance transformer coupled output is capable of driving long lines with unrivaled high frequency performance.
      • 1/4′′ THRU Outputs
The THRU outputs can be used to feed amplifier inputs for reinforcement.
      • Ground Lift Options
Pin 1 Isolate switches are provided on the rear panel to help fix any problematic grounding, as well as Ground Lift switches on the front panel to isolate each channel’s circuit ground from chassis ground.
      • Phantom Powered
Each of the RNDI-8’s eight channels is powered by standard 48V phantom power. Power is indicated by blue LEDs on the front panel, one per channel.
