Finally, TEC award-winning speakers are available in an active format with a custom amplifier from Bettermaker. Auratone’s Super Sound Cube speakers were made famous in the 70s and 80s and continue to be the industry standard for referencing in recording studios around the world. Once the original speakers ceased manufacturing, the gap in the marketplace was palpable. But Jack Wilson’s grandson has resumed production on the famed reference speakers, preserving Auratone’s family-owned legacy and making them better than ever.
The Auratone 5C Active Super Sound Cube takes the original Super Sound Cube’s timeless design and improves upon it with this active version, ensuring the amplifier and speakers are perfectly matched. The 5C Active Super Sound Sub contains an integrated award-winning mono amplifier, a twist on Auratone’s A2-30 dual-channel amplifier which was designed and built in Europe in collaboration with Bettermaker. The amplifier uses an enclosure — hand crafted in Auratone’s Nashville shop — with the same dimensions as the passive 5C. Additionally, the 5C Active Super Sound Cube uses an external DC power supply for optimal overcurrent, and protection against overheating, so you can listen to your mixes without worry.
Just like the original speakers, this 5C Active Super Sound Cube pair is perfect for mixing, “real world” referencing, or simply listening to music. The Super Sound Cube is an industry standard in broadcasting, the film industry, and recording studios alike. These speakers are durable and portable, with a flat full-range response and fantastic power handling. The 5C Active Super Sound Cube’s drivers are custom built in the United States, where each speaker is also assembled and tested in Auratone’s shop.
