Chandler Little Devil Preamp
The Little Devil has a wide variety of sounds and controls including feedback, impedance, low cut, bright, direct input, gain, and output. It also has both mic and line inputs so it can be used in mixes to reprocess tracks, or as a color box wherever line level is being used. It has one of the warmest pre amps sounds Chandler has made but remains firm and has great color and character. The Class A gain section love to be driven and more than any of Chandlers other pres sounds better and better as you drive it and the Feedback control offers a great variety of tone. The DI is excellent on this one as well, and Chandler feels this is their best pre amp yet and hope to see good things from it!
We’ve been told by beta testers that this might be the best piece of Chandler gear yet! What makes the Little Devil Pre so special? Well, several things.
The Class A gain stage sounds like no other design we’ve done. It’s big, yet open and full of life. Just about any parameter of the sound is changeable including the ability to change both the Feedback and Bias of the amplifier. The feedback control increases harmonics thousands of times over the range of control. The nature of clipping and distortion also changes and ranges from soft Class A clipping to super soft gushy tube type. The sounds range from a very colored and ‘overbiased’ tone to a gently colored and ‘in your face’ tone.
Other features of the Little Devil Pre include High and Low input impedance; transformer balanced line in for using the Devil as a color box on mixes or tracks; low but; bright switch and more! This unit has no power-up issues with lunchboxes and rack systems.
