The Mercury D Series G810 Rack System is the flagship product of the new Mercury D Series Line. Although it may appear similar to other products on the market, there is more to this rack system than meets the eye. Drawing on 20 years of experience in custom racking vintage modules, David Marquette and the team at Mercury have completely reinvented the 500 Rack with innovative new features. The result is the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System, a product that sets a new standard for quality and performance.

One of the biggest complaints among users of ‘500 racks’ in the market is the lack of power, especially when using products that are not built to the specifications of the ‘500’ standard. These non-standard products consume more power than they should, causing problems for all other modules in the rack. However, this is not an issue with the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System.

Unlike other ‘500 racks’, the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System has a power specification that is much higher than the ‘500’ standard. But simply providing more power does not solve the power problems of ‘500’ racks. To address this issue, Mercury has designed a better power structure with the Mercury Power Regulation Circuit. This circuit is not only present in the rack, but also on every channel, offering individual regulation per channel. As a result, the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System is the first ‘500’ rack to have this feature, making it not only a better rack but a better system overall.

With the Mercury Power Regulation Circuit, each channel is isolated from the next channel and any other channel in the rack. This protects against faults or emissions from problematic modules, as no module in the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System shares DC power with another module in the rack.

In addition to the Mercury Power Regulation Circuit, the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System also features the Mercury Soft Start Circuit. This circuit allows power to ramp up slowly, gradually and gently applying voltage to your expensive D Series or ‘500 Series’ modules when you power up. This is not only better for your modules, but also reduces the danger to woofers that could be damaged with ‘turn-on’ thump when part of a larger system.

While it may not be the first thing you consider when purchasing equipment, the power supply is the foundation of how any recording device works. In professional audio, a clean, regulated, and abundant power supply affects the headroom of your preamps, equalizers, compressor/limiters, and other equipment. Stable and isolated power simply allows your equipment to work better and avoids cross talk between channels.

The Mercury D Series G810 Rack System is built like a tank, featuring thick aluminium rack ears and a durable steel chassis. This construction not only provides strength but also optimum shielding for internal electronics. Like all Mercury Recording Equipment Co. products, the Mercury D Series G810 Rack System is engineered to be reliable and look good in your studio, but it is also built to be road-worthy.
