Extinct Audio BM9 (The Viking) Studio Ribbon Microphone Professional Bundle
The BM9 is a low noise ribbon microphone that offers versatility and high-quality sound. With its strong output, rich bass, and clear top end, the BM9 is suitable for use in front of a guitar amp or an orchestra. It provides the perfect combination of vintage tone and modern utility. Quality control is of the utmost importance when it comes to ribbon microphones. That’s why each ribbon in the BM9 is made, fitted, and tuned by Dr. Stewart Tavener, who has worked on thousands of vintage and new microphones. The BM9 is proudly made in the UK*, with all metal parts machined and plated in England, and transformers wound and mics assembled at their facility in York. The BM9 comes with a solid wood box and hardtail mount, and mechanical parts carry a lifetime warranty to the original owner. Ribbons are warrantied for one year from the date of purchase, but with proper care, they should last for many years.
Fenrir is a sturdy vibration mount designed specifically for use with the Extinct Audio family of ribbon microphones. This mount gently yet firmly clamps the microphone in its jaws, ensuring a secure fit. With its twin-yoke design and eight discrete rubber contact points, Fenrir effectively reduces the transmission of vibrations from the stand to the microphone. Additionally, the mount features eight sets of thrust bearings for smooth operation. The thumb wheel located at the rear of the mount allows for easy adjustment and tightening of the jaws. Fenrir is capable of tilting in the vertical axis and allows for rotation of the microphone in the horizontal plane, making it easy to find the perfect position for your microphone. With its wide range of accessible positions, Fenrir is a versatile and reliable choice for any recording setup.
Fenrir is a versatile mount that is compatible with Extinct Audio microphones, including the Viking BM9, Black Ops, and the Valkyr stereo microphone. It can also accommodate other models with a diameter of around 27mm, such as classic B&O BM3 and BM4 microphones, Royer SF12, and Nevaton stereo mics. With care, it can be used with B&O BM5 and BM6 microphones as well. This mount has been praised by Sound on Sound as a “beautifully engineered device that holds expensive microphones with a reassuring degree of security.” Fenrir provides a secure and stable platform for your microphone, allowing you to position it quickly and accurately at any angle and make fast changes as needed. Made from rugged CNC-machined aluminium, Fenrir is built to last. It is proudly manufactured in Yorkshire, England, ensuring the highest level of quality and durability.
*Extinct Audio use transformer laminations and bobbins from Germany and USA. Everything else is made in England.
