Westlake Audio BBSM-4 Passive Nearfield Monitors Pair (Used)
In excellent condition with only very light marks visible. Tested, in full working order.
This passive monitor is fed from a 4-way terminal strip to facilitate bi-wire connections. Our low impedance crossover network dictate an amplifier capable of driving low impedance, without limiting. The nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and could be driven with an 8 ohm amp, but we recommend driving 2-4 ohms for optimum performance. The lower the impedance, the better the applied dampening and sound.
Another point on amplification, the wattage is 80-200w. Most speakers, our included, can absorb temporary short term power inputs 2-3 in excess of continuous power ratings. Make sure you drive the amp in a way so it doesn’t clip, to keep the best sound quality.
Due to the low impedance nature of our wonderful speakers, we recommend passive bi-amping.
Now, let’s talk listening positions. To emphasize stereo image with better sense of the musician’s location to the sound stage, keep the distance equal between the left and right speaker. Any shorter will shift the stereo image. Or, to have the listener head be less restricted, while keeping a homogeneous stereo image, double the distance as between the left and right speaker. Lengthening any more than this is not recommended, as it will make the image mono-phasic. For the sidewall, the ideal is equal distance from the sidewall, as per the same with the back-wall. And we recommend having your walls be the same material for the best possible acoustics.
We recommend using Westlake speaker wire with the largest gauge practical to reduce any cable resistance.
